Well, this could be true. But when it comes to a web, it is not. Your job as a developer is to create a clear website, to solve a problem. The web or an app is designed for the audience, not for the client. Which means… the audience is the real king.
Clients have their own proposals. But that doesn’t mean you should follow them. Your client may not like the end result. But remember this… The number one property of web development is solving a problem, not impressing the client.
